laptops for public loan
Laptops are available to our customers to borrow (in the safe store but
will be on library laptop shelves once the desk is re-developed):
Toshiba laptop in a green tagged bag is Windows
8 and has Office 2013 – can be borrowed overnight (cost and laptop agreement on
Coolnet) and for use in the library
·
Asus ZENBook on the recharging shelf is Windows
7 & has Office 2010
·
iPads loanable in library (as per usual).
A great option when all our PCs are being used, loanable
with a Library card, overseas visitors can swap with their Passport – may need
a WiFi user account.
Although printing isn’t possible from these devices as yet,
this will be available in the future.

RFID kiosks
All
should be working well on our kiosks thanks to the latest update by FeTech, but
still let me know of any anomalies - some points to note:
- when no items are being picked up "at all", the software needs restarting, it this doesn't work try restarting the kiosk
- we have been advised to shutdown the kiosks at least once a week for updates to install, please do this on the Saturday closing or before a public holiday weekend
- transit slips are coming for the Sort Assistant - hopefully in the next week
loan of laptops
REMINDER: When issuing a laptop to a Seaford 6-12 student please ensure that a laptop agreement form has been agreed to. This information is on the Check Out screen of Workflows - don't take the students word for this!
Also, check for any messages - they will appear in the same area of the screen!

laptops
The white laptops for the MacTrolley are now on the new trolley so any on our laptop shelves can be issued to students like the MacBook Pro’s – preference white ones to students whose 1:1 is in repairs.
The new laptops and iMacs have a new operating system
(Mountain Lion), which appears to take longer to log-in and many students are
getting impatient and shutting down and trying again. It doesn’t actually take
longer as they don’t have to wait for the green light for networks before
logging in.
Ask students to be patient and if they can't log-in,
they can go and check this with (school) IT staff. Nathan
